Britain’s young drivers are some of the most dangerous in Europe. Each week two novices will be let loose on the road in their family’s car.

They believe they’re filming a slice of modern teenage life. In fact, it’s all about their driving. The cars are fitted with state of the art cameras and the teens don’t know their parents will be watching their every manoeuvre as the week unfolds, and a hidden telemetry device secretly tracks their driving speed.

Each teen will go on three road trips geared towards testing every aspect of their driving. At the end of it, a former traffic cop, sitting alongside the parents, will have the final say on whether the teen should have a car of their own.

If they don’t like the way the teens operate behind the wheel, both of them could end up with advanced driving lessons.  But if the parents and the former traffic cop think the novices’ driving is up to scratch, the teen will get a car that they can call their very own…
